I collected a water sample for Open Field Collective’s Algal Bloom Monitoring project. The pond appeared blooming with leaves of Spirodela spp. I saw different species of Algae through the foldscope.
I spotted many such insects near a hotel in Kihim, Alibaug. Sharing the images of the parts of one such insect starting from its head.
This is a late post. I had captured this last month from pond water in Chedda Nagar, Mumbai, and posted this on Twitter and other social media handles. @Prakashlab helped identify this as a Tubifex worm.
Spotted from pondwater in Chiplun, Maharashtra
While collecting pollen, I had accidentally also collected a small insect. I realized this only while observing through my Foldscope.
Fish muscle fibre
I took the pink and white petals at 11’o clock position on the flower. I mounted the anthers on a slide and gently tapped to see the pollen grains
Flower- Caesalpinia pulcherrima
Saw this insect lying dead on my table. It had glittery wings. The fine powder behind it was the bits of its wings. Tried observing its antenna and leg under the Foldscope
