Awareness program on foldscope assembly

We conduct a awareness program on foldscope assembly at N.S Iyah Memorial Higher secondary school, Ketti Palada, Nilgiri. Students were so eager to view the sample through the foldscope. They were so excited and assembled the foldscope within 10 minutes for surprise.

Ostracodinium nucleolobum in rumen fluid

DBT scheme –“Foldscope for dignosis of rumen acidosis and parasitic infection in cattle”. Protozoa under the genus Ostracodinium Ostracodinium nucleolobum was identified using foldscope. Morphology of Ostracodinium nucleolobum is roughly triangular to flattened ellipsoidal and left side is slightly convex, while right side is nearly flat.

DBT scheme- “Foldscope for dignosis of rumen acidosis and parasitic infection in cattle”. Protozoa under the genus Ostracodinium Ostracodinium mammosum was identified using foldscope. Morphology of Ostracodinium mammosum has two caudal lobes, round lobe on left side and concave lobe on right side.

Eremoplastron in rumen fluid

DBT Foldscope scheme – “Foldscope for dignosis of rumen acidosis and parasitic infection in cattle”. Rumen fluid was collected from a healthy cow. Smear was prepared with one drop of rumen fluid, stained with lugol’s iodine and visualized under foldscope. Protozoa under the genus Eremoplastron was identified.

DBT Foldscope scheme –“Foldscope for dignosis of rumen acidosis and parasitic infection in cattle”. Rumen fluid was collected from a healthy cow. Smear was prepared with one drop of rumen fluid, stained with lugol’s iodine and visualized under foldscope. Protozoa under the genus Polyplastron was identified.

Entodinium nanellum in rumen fluid

DBT scheme –“Foldscope for dignosis of rumen acidosis and parasitic infection in cattle”. Protozoa under the genus Entodinium Entodinium nanellum was identified using foldscope. Morphology of Entodinium nanellum is ovoid, found in the rumen of cattle.

Diplodinium monocanthum in rumen fluid

DBT scheme –“Foldscope for dignosis of rumen acidosis and parasitic infection in cattle”. Protozoa under the genus Diplodinium monocanthum Diplodinium monocanthum was identified using foldscope. Morphology of Diplodinium monocanthum is oval to triangular with posterioroblique and truncated end. It is found in the rumen of cattle.

Ostrachodinium tiete in rumen fluid

DBT scheme –“Foldscope for dignosis of rumen acidosis and parasitic infection in cattle”. Protozoa under the genus Ostrachodinium Ostrachodinium tiete was identified using foldscope. Morphology of Ostrachodinium tiete is ellipsoid, with small lobe at the posterior side.
