    Dear Nanda,

Thanks for exploring such an important parasite. We were in Orissa very recently; and the impact of malaria is tremendous.

The current foldscope that is mass produced with the 140x lens (1.9um resolution) does not have the resolution to see Pf rings (which need oil immersion). This should be an oil immersion image.

We tested and reported many different lens in the original foldscope plot one paper (https://journals.plos.org/plosone/article?id=10.1371/journal.pone.0098781) – but those lens are not included in the current foldscope.

If you are in Orissa, it would be fantastic to meet in person next time I am visiting. We have a new malaria specific instrument – and it would be fantastic to have you test that inn your local community. Please let me know where you are located.

    cheers
    manu
