EXPLORING THE SEA THROUGH THE EYE OF A FOLDSCOPE – aMORE FESTIVAL IN CROATIA

In Croatia, we LOVE THE (Adriatic) SEA! We even have a festival dedicated entirely to the sea where art, culture, science, new technologies, innovations, stories, and legends interweave – aMORE Festival (AMORE=LOVE in Italian; MORE=SEA in Croatian).

aMORE wants to draw attention to the environmental, socioeconomic, and cultural importance of the marine ecosystems as well as pointing out the causes of their degradation. aMORE festival, in particular, raises public awareness about the importance of preserving the sea and aims to improve the relationships that the local community, visitors, and tourists develop with it.

This year aMORE gained a totally new dimension – a foldscope one!

FROM THE CLASSROOM…

The foldscope journey began here, in the classroom of Tar-Vabriga elementary school, where students volunteered their time to help us assemble all of the microscopes.

ENDING WITH FINAL MESSAGE:

LET’S GET TO KNOW OUR SEA SO WE COULD LOVE IT MORE AND PROTECT IT BETTER!
