    If this is a live onion, could you take a movie. You should be able to see “cytoplasmic streaming” – a storm of molecular driven activity which generates swirls inside onions..


  2. I have been trying to get my hands on this kind of onion for a very long time, but the only red ones I can find are those with the red colour in the fleshy leaf and not in the membrane between the leafs. Do you have a name for this onion?

    To keep the cells of an onion membrane hydrated during an exhibition day I lay the membrane on some water. Works very well.

      This one was from a Dutch supermarket, it’s type was not specified (other than red union). Maybe you can use Red long of Florence?
