SCOBY is otherwise known as Symbiotic Culture of Yeast! I made SCOBY at home with a fraction of live SCOBY I was provided by a lab and live kombucha. It was my first time making it so I didn’t know what to expect but after 6 weeks I had a large SCOBY and was able to look at it through a lens (see the image!). Since the pandemic, everything is virtual and there is no access to labs, the foldscope is a great alternative to keep magnifying and learning!
