Cells of a “schefflera” leaf – first foldscope use

Because of the pretty shitty weather I made my first attempt with the foldscope with an indoor plant. And I have to say that I’m very impressed! Amazing what this small paper thingy is capable of 🙂

Schefflera cells - low magnification

First I tried it just with sunlight and it was already pretty nice but for the pictures I used the light module.

Schefflera cells - high magnification

First it was a little difficult to focus with the high magnification lens but I think the picture turned out pretty fine 🙂 You can even divine the chloroplasts

I really look forward to the next days with the foldscope always in my pocket

Beautiful. These hexagonal cells remind me of mathematically generated structures and Bernard convection cells. Never leave home without a foldscope in your pocket 🙂
