In-depth understanding of leaves through Foldscope

Yesterday in my class one of the 6th class student from Gudipalli was asked a very interesting question – Plants doesn’t have Nose. Then how it breath.

We have explained that Plants ‘breathe’ too, but they do it through tiny openings in leaves called stomata. Stomata open and close to allow the intake of carbon dioxide and the release of oxygen.

Another student asked how can i see it, How stomato cells look like.
By doing the fold-scope activity they have seen the stomato cells in different plants like Reo, Calotropies & some other leaves through fold-scope. Students were so happy and exited to use fold-scope to understand better Science/ Nature.
