Worm observed using dark field microscopy technique

My greetings to all. This is my first post after attending the workshop at IIT Bombay, which was exploratory, educating and fun filled as well.

My mother was cutting these vegetables when she found out the worm in one of them.IMG_20170902_144724

I checked it under my new foldscope in the process damaging it a bit. The worm was dead however its body moved in the mounting medium ( water)VID_20170902_150718

Kindly ignore the background noises . Apology for the inconvenience caused due to it

@Sanika.. This is fantastic.. I wonder what it is, did it have a head. Such comparmentalization reminds me of the tapeworm. IT could be some such flat worm What was its size?

    Dear @sanika,

This is a highly unusual observation. Specially the “fat cells” like formulation with segmentation is really unusual. I would have thought you should see some epithelium – so I am really uncertain if this thing is a “worm” or something all together.

You must look in the same batch of vegetable to see if you can find these worm like things again. Do they move/wriggle. Try to get a picture of the same; and look for them again. You might have something very special in your hands.

Incredible video. Don’t apologize for the audio – it adds to the excitement.

    cheers
