Soil Microorganism

Observed soil microorganisms (prepared sample by soaking a pinch of soil from my garden plant pot in water and took supernatant water) and amazed to observe world of micro organisms.

Observed a chlophyceae algae, assumed  like  Scenedesmus, but Scenedesmus is colonial and non motile structure, but the one i observed here is a solitary and motile one and these are the images and video of it’s movement

Also observed many spiral streaks like structures assumes like filamentamous diatoms or spiral algae may be but wondered to see so many structures like that in a single drop of water.

Observed  copepod and also birefrengence of copepod, thank you Mitali, learnt from your polarisation post and

Want to mention that many of my friends are amazed to learn that these are the pictures taken by a paper microscope and a mobile phone.  Thanks to Foldscope team for wonderful opportunity to explore any where, any time and any thing.

@Tulasi. The first video is a diatom. Beautiful. I love the spiral shape, looks like DNA. I am just wondering if it is a spiral scaffold of a certain plant. Perhaps it is a dried our spirogyra. Really gorgeous.

Thank you for the information and encouragement. Even i wondered looking at that spiral helical like structures. so many such structures were seen. I want to repeat by collecting sample from same soil. i will check again if i can find same organisms or different after a week.
