Butterflies are one of the most fascinating creatures on this planet and these beauties have always left me impressed. Here is me Jasdeep singh, student of G.G.D.S.D. College, chandigarh(INDIA) who is trying to explore their magnificent world.
Butterflies have scales on their wings and these scales are arranged just like tiles on the floor. These scales are of two different types(A) Pigment scales-which are responsible for the different colours of wings in different species due to the presence of different pigments in them.(B) Irridescent scales-which are responsible for different colour of wings due to reflections from the scales as observed from different angles. These scales are of different shapes and sizes. Some are oval shaped, some having wavy margins and some having circular margins etc.
Nangal township(Punjab) is my study area where i’m exploring the world of butterflies. It is a national wetland situated on the river sutlej and is sorrounded by foothills of shiwaliks to its north and east.Vegetation includes open scrub, open grassland, marshy places and small dense forest patches having all the facilities required by the butterflies to complete their life cycle.Hence, having abundant butterfly diversity.
Thank you Dr. Jasveen Dua ma’am(botany department) and Dr. Samriti Dhawan ma’am(biotechnology department) for encouraging me and for your dedication towards students.
