Ostracodinium nucleolobum in rumen fluid

DBT scheme –“Foldscope for dignosis of rumen acidosis and parasitic infection in cattle”. Protozoa under the genus Ostracodinium Ostracodinium nucleolobum was identified using foldscope. Morphology of Ostracodinium nucleolobum is roughly triangular to flattened ellipsoidal and left side is slightly convex, while right side is nearly flat.

Smear was prepared with one drop of rumen fluid, stained with lugol’s iodine and visualized under foldscope. Protozoa under the genus Eremoplastron was identified.

Diplodinium monocanthum in rumen fluid

Morphology of Diplodinium monocanthum is oval to triangular with posterioroblique and truncated end. It is found in the rumen of cattle.
