I just finished several of the foldscopes for my second grade class. I made a couple of slides to get myself familiarized with the process. My question is….should it look all black and grainy? It looks like this without a slide in, and makes it very difficult to see anything when there is a slide in. I also used the light source and had the same problem. I’m sure it has something to do with the operator
Have you looked through it into the light? You should sit under a fluorescent light that is probably found in your classroom. If you still retain the same result, make another one to test and see if you have the same predicament. We are science teachers, trial and error is our best friend!!
I’ve got the same thing. but not with all lenses. The higher mag lens is more grainy than the other lenses. Most of the normal magnification lenses are oke though. So just try some of the other lenses and use the one who looks the most clear without a slide in it.
