In a bottle containing some pond water sample, a weird type of brush-like growth stuck to the wall of the bottle was present. I examined it using foldscope, and what I found out are several filamentous structures which are yellow to brownish in color. I suspect they may be brown alga or fungi. However, the present of yellow heterocyst-like cells in the brown filaments make it seem like a ‘brown’ cyanobacteria, something which I haven’t heard before…. What do you think about it?
