 Symptoms:


 Infection and lesion formation initially occur on older leaves before progressing to newer ones. Lesions at maturity are 1/8 inch in diameter and appear light gray-colored to dark tan with a brown to purple border. Severely affected leaves wither and die from coalescing lesions.

 Symptoms


 1.Older lesions turn brown and appeared shriveled


 2. Mycelium of fungus forms mats and appears as white, grayish white or tan colored patches on leaves, buds, stems or young fruit


 3. Fruiting bodies (cleistothecia) appear as small black or brown specks on the mycelial mats


 4. Infected leaves often appear chlorotic due to decreased photosynthesis


 5. Leaf curl and leaf drop


 6. Infected fruit and flowers are often aborted or malformed


 7. Early signs include small chlorotic spots or blistering on leaves or flowers

 Symptoms:


 yellow lesions on the upper leaf surface and white blister-like pustules on the underside of the leaf.


 Generally, the upper surface of the leaves remain chlorotic, however in advanced stages, white lesions may form on the upper side of the leaf.


 Infected plants are weak and might collapse if environmental conditions are favorable for disease development.


 White rust is an important economic disease, which can cause severe crop losses if not controlled.

 MUTHAYAMMAL COLLEGE OF ARTS AND SCIENCE,RASIPURAM,NAMAKKAL,TAMIL NADU JOINTLY ORGANISED A ONE DAY WORKSHOP ON “ORIENTATION AND ASSEMBLY OF FOLDSCOPE AND ITS UTILIZATION AS A TOOL FOR IDENTIFICATION OF PLANT PATHOGENS AND EFFECT ON HOST” FOR THE STUDENTS OF SIKKIM UNIVERSITY, DEPARTMENT OF HORTICULTURE ON 4th MARCH,2019. THE PURPOSE OF THE WORKSHOP WAS TO PROMOTE THE USAGE FOLDSCOPE AS A RESEARCH AND EDUCATIONAL TOOLS.


 DURING THIS WORKSHOP, STUDENTS GOT OPPORTUNITY TO LEARN ABOUT SLIDE PREPARATION AND APPLICATIONS OF FOLDSCOPE. ALSO THEY WERE ABLE TO IDENTIFY PATHOGEN UNDER FOLDSCOPE . FURTHER THEY WERE ABLE TO OBSERVE TISSUE AND POLLENS UNDER FOLDSCOPE.
