AMR is a global health concern wherein microorganisms, such as bacteria, develop resistance to the drugs (antibiotics) that are used to treat infections. Foldscope can be used as an educational tool to increase awareness about microbiology and the role of microorganisms in health, disease, and AMR. It can help people understand the microscopic world, including the bacteria that can cause infections and how they might develop resistance.
The tool was used to explore the world of cells helping in students know the foe #knowurfoe.
The onion cell mounted in a classroom setup with barely minimum resources the cells appear distinct, the layer is bricklike and the 3D contouring is quite visible.
The mounting of the potato is the level 2 of the workshop as children now understand how the sample is prepared and they begin to look for fields that has much lesser number of the cells to ensure a better view of the cellular arrangement.
Thanks to DR. Charu Dogra, Dr. Sneh and all at the Department including the lab staff who facilitated the session.
