I decided to investigate the leaves. How does a leaf split, on a cellular level, when someone snaps a leaf? What do the internal contents of a leaf look like on a cellular level? How do leaves of different textures look different under a microscope? To investigate these questions, I took a leaf from one of my flowers and a couple of leaves from the plants outside my dorm. I split the leaves in half so that each leaf was broken and had an edge that revealed the leaf’s contents. I put each leaf on a microscope slide, put the slide in my foldscope, and adjusted the slide accordingly so that I could see the edge where the leaf was broken.
