Mosquito larva, also known as wrigglers, are the aquatic, legless, and grub-like immature stages of mosquitoes. They hatch from eggs laid by female mosquitoes in standing water and undergo four stages of development (instars) before pupating and eventually emerging as adult mosquitoes.

Characteristics:

1. Legless and worm-like body
2. Distinct head, thorax, and abdomen
3. Presence of mouthbrushes (labium) for feeding
4. Siphon (breathing tube) at the rear end for respiration
5. Active swimmers, feeding on microorganisms and organic matter
