I was very curious on how plants can transport so many nutrients to all cells and parts of their leaves. To begin this journey, I collected some living leaves and leaves that had just fallen off of trees in equad. I started off by building my foldoscope and then preparing my leaf sample. Some of my leaf samples were too thick and I wasn’t able to see much as enough light wasn’t passing through them. Finally, when I was able to get a thin slice, I was able to examine individual cells of the leaf and through moving around the sample, I was able to find a branching set of tubes in the leaves that seemed to carry and transport nutrients as well as water. The evidence of a transportation system like this elucidated the process through which plants distribute their resources.
