We used our Foldscopes to look at soil samples. I wanted students to see up close the differences in soils, especially those that look the same from just a glance. Students had fun trying to get soil samples to stick to tape to then look at and wanted to explain the differences. Some had small organisms that looked like they were moving so we had to have discussions about what they could have been and then why some soil looked differently based on things such as climate. Students tried hard to obtain samples that would fit and worked to make sure they kept their foldscopes as clean as possible. This was our first time completing a lesson using Foldscopes!
