I attended a workshop on Foldscopes and at first I was a little worried about being able to work them. I tried it out before the students started using them and I was still struggling.
When it was time to learn about ecosystems, we begin our unit by looking at biotic and abiotic features. I planned a nature walk around the school and told students to bring back a biotic feature that we could look at under the foldscopes. Students brought back with them flowers, leaves, pedals, mica, etc..

When we got back to the room, I let the class know that I didn't really know how to work them, but we will give it a try.

It turned out awesome! They figured it out and we were sharing foldscopes and showing what we were looking at under the foldscopes. One class even looked at fingers nails under the foldscope.

Even my lower kids were able to figure out the foldscopes and use them. It was just such a fun day!
