My students used Foldscopes to take a closer look at pollen and the different parts of flowers. They were excited to see details that are not visible to the naked eye and eagerly shared their observations with classmates. As they explored, students identified flower structures such as petals, stamens, pistils, and pollen, while discussing how each part helps a plant grow and reproduce.
Students carefully observed and recorded what they saw, using science vocabulary to describe the colors, shapes, and textures of the flower parts. Many were amazed by the appearance of the pollen when viewed under magnification. The hands-on experience encouraged curiosity, strengthened observation skills, and helped students make real-world connections to our study of plant life cycles.
This activity was engaging and sparked meaningful discussions about how plants reproduce. Students left with a greater appreciation for the complexity and beauty of flowers and the important role they play in nature.
