Starting at my dorm, I decided to start looking around the area surrounding my dorm for any interesting peculiarities. One of the first things I looked at was the flower beds in my backyard, they had various colored tulips and other typical flowers, but the one thing that caught my eye was the roses. Unlike the other flowers, I noticed the pigments of rose petals are not a solid color; starting white at the stem and then turning red. With this in mind, I picked a petal and used it as a sample for my Foldscope. My goal was to see if the petal had a pigment gradient or a sharp transition from white to red. I struggled to take pictures of the magnified rose petal, but I was able to verify that there was no gradient in the pigment.
