Third grade students explored the tiny world around them by using foldscopes to closely examine grains of sugar. They were excited to see details that are not visible to the naked eye and discussed their observations together. To connect science and reading, students also read Two Bad Ants and focused on understanding point of view. They talked about how the story is told from the ants’ perspective and how that changes the way events are described. This activity helped students see how perspective can shape both what we observe in science and how stories are told in literature.
