I decided that I'd introduce my mother to the foldscope. I remember being very excited to tell her about it when I got home after we found out about it. Very exciting! I first mixed some full cream plain yoghurt with water so that we could look at all the bacteria- since yoghurt is literally a living culture that we eat very often and is almost always in our fridge. (forgive the quality of the photos. i forgot the equipment for my phone on campus :( )

We then had a look at Mussel Orchid plant cells. My mother noted that they looked like tiny bricks that all perfectly fit together, and how different they look to our (animal) cells. So that means she's pretty much a qualified scientist in my eyes!
