We are viewing spores of different fungi under foldscope to ascertain that one can differentiate similar appearing spores of fungi using foldscope instrument. By this we want to make foldscope an equipment that can be carried by scientists to farmers field to identify and diagnose any unknown or suspicious problems in crops. Therefore, it is necessary first to have an idea if foldscope can give required magnification and solve the purpose because it is less likely to get these many spores from a plant sample directly.
we have already published other pictures in this regard. Here is another in the order and we are quite eager to publish this one as this one is about the ‘look alikes’.
1/2
1/2
1 Curvularia sp.
2. small spored Alternaria sp.
3. Large spored Alternaria sp. the knee joint pattern in the conidia of curvularia is well evident in first picture. picture 2 and 3 are of alternaria sp. which have muriform conidia and considerable size difference is also evident among both.
