We were fortunate to collect the samples of lichens in the lalbagh botanical gardens during our field visit. We prepared the temporary slides and observed through the foldscope.
Lichens are an association of an alga and fungus. The algal partner is called phycobiont and the fungal partner is called mycobiont.
We also learnt the skill of taking thin sections of stem and prepare temporary slides.
