Leaves are green due to the presence of chlorophyll pigment. Some leaves of croton and other plants have red and yellow pigment in addition to chlorophyll. The variegated leaf was observed through foldscope and different pigments were identified.
It was amazing to observe variety of pigment molecules through foldscope. The red color is due to the presence of anthocyanin.
