For my BIO60_2019 class, I took two petals of a red rose (living and wilting) to observe using the foldscope. I wanted to see the difference between a wilting petal of rose and a living one. Under the foldscope, I got these pictures where I was able to see some differences, notably in the color and the ability to let light go through. It is interesting to see the structure of a petal in both states and think about why there is such a difference as to what could be happening on smaller microscopic level that would lead to this.
