I am a faculty at Stanford and run the Prakash Lab at Department of Bioengineering at Stanford University. Foldscope community is at the heart of our Frugal Science movement - and I can not tell you how proud I am of this community and grassroots movement. The joy of sharing foldscope never wears out on me. Had a really fun moment with the incredible Noa from UCSB, Tyler Ross from Caltech and Kranti from UC Berkeley. The smiles truly tell a special story.

In the conversation, I also proposed a little project to explore whet determines the frequency of gill beating in many crustaceans. Since they are rapidly oxygenating the water – fundamental limits exist with size, frequency and scaling of the same as a function of the organism size. For fun I will do some calculations and get back on this soo. In the mean time, enjoy this completely impromptu session of Foldscoping – where scientists forget where they are – and just share the sheer joy of what they love – which is to observe the natural world with a sharp eye.
Cheers
