On 23 ^rd January, Department of Environmental Science, University of Calcutta organized a workshop “ Use of Foldscope as a research tool ” at National Workshop on Genomics for Microbial Diversity and Taxonomy (GEMTAX- 2019)

Introduction-

At first Dr. Punarbasu Chaudhuri gave a brief introduction about Foldscope and its applications.

Demonstration of Foldscope-

In this session members of our Foldscope team demonstrated how to use a Foldscope.  After demonstration few prepared slides were provided to the participants to observe under Foldscope.

Slide preparation-

After demonstration session, Shouvik Mahanty, one of the members of our Foldscope team, demonstrated temporary slide preparation method using Fungi colonies.

Observation under Foldscope-

The prepared slides were observed by all the participants under Foldscope and images were taken using smartphone.

Conclusion-

The concept of Foldscope and its applications were new to the participants.
