I have a few potted succulents in my dorm that I’ve been taking care of since the beginning of the year. I was curious to see what they would look like up close, so I took a leaf and cut it up so that I could have a thin enough piece to view through my foldscope. After placing it on a slide and adding a drop of water, I was able to get a sample that looked like this:
I thought it was interesting to note how “sparse” the green pigmentation is throughout the view, which contrasts other posts I’ve seen on here featuring other green plants. Maybe it has to do with how succulents are characteristically more fleshy to accommodate for higher water retention in more arid climates?
