With all the winterberries growing around campus recently, I decided to take one and cut it open to see what was inside. There was a substance surrounding the seeds inside the winterberry that I decided to put under a microscope. (You can see the substance smeared on the paper towel in the second picture.) What I found was very interesting: small, clear cells tightly packed together in the denser areas.
