This is an image of pond water with various organisms. The sample was obtained on 4/8/2019 at around 5:30 PM. I dropped some pond water on a slide. Then, I inserted the slide into the foldscope.
The domain is bacteria because they must be magnified in order to be seen. The magnification of my foldscope is 140x. The organism is 4 micrometers. The question is what specific bacteria are these clear circles? This could be answered by using a more precise microscope. Another question is why the bacteria clustered in some areas? This could be answered by studying the behavior of these same bacteria over time.
This observation is significant because I didn’t realize that even in pond water that there were so many bacteria. This makes me want to see more things under a microscope.
