This photo was taken on April 10, around 11pm. The pond scum was retrieved from the turtle pond on April 10, around 6:20pm. I believe this photo is of some algae or other plant material that lives in the top layer of the turtle pond.
I believe I’m looking at some algae, because of the long, thing shape of the item and because it looks vaguely dark green. The question of what this really is could be solved by looking at it under a higher resolution microscope (I took this photo at the lowest focus) and by comparing to known microscopic images of algae and other organisms in pond scum.
