Potential worm spotting

This image was obtained on 4/11 at ~7:30 pm using a wet sample collected from the Caltech turtle pond. The wet sample was prepared using a pipette, glass slide, and cover. In the image, the edge of an air bubble can be seen. More interestingly, however, you can see what looks like part of a microscopic worm in the image. This conjecture is based on similarity with a sample video shown in class that is known to capture a microscopic worm. Questions I have about this image include: 1. Did I, in fact, see part of a worm or is it another organism? 2. What are notable traits of the organism observed and how does it interact with its environment? To answer question 1, I would need to collect more data from the turtle pond and review the sample again. To answer question 2, I would need to collect more samples from the turtle pond, find another similar looking organism, and observe its behavior over time. #caltechbi1
