In this image taken with a Foldscope, we can see a wet sample taken at 7:30pm, April 16th, at the turtle pond at Caltech. It was obtained by extracting water from the pond using a pipette and a falcon tube. A drop of it was subsequently placed onto a slide using the pipette. The image is mostly blank except for one dark patch – a stationary, relatively large organism in the top right of the circle.
The rather distinct appearance of the organism indicates that it is almost certainly algae -perhaps Ulva Algae. One can determine this by examining the image and comparing it to images of algae. Thus the domain of the organism is Eukaryote, as this is the domain that algae belong to.
