Department of Environmental Science, University of Calcutta, organised a one day workshop at C.S.N High School, Balarampur, Purulia, West Bengal, India on 13 th April 2019.

The workshop started with Dr. Punarbasu Chaudhuri, giving the basic idea of foldscope and the microscopic world to the participants.

Ranjan describing how to assemble a foldscope The participants were students of standard 6 to 10. Prior to this workshop, they had no exposure to a microscope or foldscope. So the workshop was their gateway to the microscopic world.
Demonstration session-
In this session, Ranjan, member of our foldscope team, explained how to fold and assemble a foldscope followed by a demonstration of various microscopic objects such as algae, fungi, various types of tissue, plant cell etc.
