This dark seed-like structures are pollen. They are clustered together in this picture. This sample was taken at the east side of Avery house at 1:22 pm on 5/6/19. I obtained the sample by picking the flower and removing an anther in its center. I rubbed the anther onto the slide to extract some pollen for the foldscope. Below is a picture of east Avery, where the flower was obtained.
I found that this flower is a yellow daylily, or Hemerocallis lilioasphodelus, so the species is H. lilioasphodelus.
