Description: Pollen grains in a fold scope slide. The dark specks are in focus, and the light specks are out of focus, but they are all pollen grains.

Location and time: Flower taken from the Bechtel Residence courtyard at Caltech. Time: 9:00 PM. Date: 5/8/2019

I picked a flower from a bush in the Bechtel courtyard. I brushed off pollen from the anthers of the flower using a toothpick, and placed the pollen on a slide. I then covered the pollen with a cover slip and taped it to the slide. Picture of how the sample was obtained:

Plant species of the pollen: Aloe vera. This was determined by using the Pl@ntNet app to determine the species based on a picture of the plant.
