This image displays multiple pollen grains collected from a California poppy flower. The sample was obtained May 8th, 2019 at 3:45 pm from a poppy plant located in front of Ruddock House on Caltech campus. Pollen was shook from the flower onto a slide, covered, and observed using a Foldscope and iPhone 8.
The plant species of the pollen is Eschscholzia californica . The California poppy is an excellent pollen producer and a favorite among bees.
