The image shown is a close-up of some of the pollen of a bird of paradise flower, as seen through the lens of a foldscope (see first image). This sample was obtained from the patch of bird of paradise flowers near CSS and the parking structure on S. Holliston St around 5:30pm on Thursday, May 9th, 2019 (shown in third photo). The sample was obtained by inserting a q-tip into the purple part of the flower, where the pollen resides, after opening it up (see second photo).
To reiterate, the plant species from which this pollen was obtained was a bird of paradise flower.
