This is the image of the pollen sample seen with the foldscope. The picture is taken by the camera of an iPhone 7. As we can see in the image, there are tiny grains of pollen, some impurities on the glass, and a petal in the background. The image is not ideal.
The pollen sample was obtained from a blooming wild daisy on the lawn beneath Millikan Library at noon May 10. The stamen of the daisy was fetched an arranged on the glass slide. A few petals went onto the slide as well since it is hard to break them apart without letting all the pollen fall off.
The sample was obtained on the lawn in this picture.
The magnification of the foldscope lens is 140x. From our picture, the diameter of the pollen is roughly 2mm. This means the diameter of the pollen is 0.014mm.
The species of this plant is the wild daisy.
