Hibiscus flower pollen collected from just outside Page House at Caltech (34.1369, -118.1233) by scraping pollen onto a glass slide. The sample was obtained at approximately 7:20 PM on 10th May, 2019.

Hibiscus_pollen_videoDownload Above: video of the Foldscope image of the pollen. The species appears to be Hibiscus rosa-sinensis, but this was not identifiable from the pollen. Based on the size of features in the image, considering a magnification of 140x from the foldscope, I suspect that the structures imaged are not pollen themselves but the carrying structures.
