In this image we see dozens of fine yellow pollen grains. We can see that the grains adhere in regular clusters which are slightly lustrous. We can infer by the large colorful flowers that the pollen is spread by insects and not the wind. This sample was collected from a California poppy outside of Ruddock House at 3:00 pm Tuesday 5/7/19.
The plant species is Eschscholzia californica, commonly known as the California poppy. It is a plant native to the United States and Mexico which flowers in the summer. It is high in pollen production, according to a UK study of meadow flowers.
