Pollen from a Eschscholzia californica plant
In this image, we can observe a pollen sample that was taken from a Eschscholzia californica plant, more commonly known as a poppy. This pollen sample is yellow but the lighting in the microscope distorts the color so we can’t fully appreciate it. In this picture we can see pollen grains, which are male microgametophytes of seed plants.
The location and time the sample was obtained: This sample was collected on the Caltech campus, outside Lloyd and Ruddock.
A description of how the sample was obtained: I obtained this sample by removing pollen from some poppy plants on the outside of Lloyd and Ruddock. These had already fallen, so no plants were harmed. It also made it easier to collect the pollen and place it on my slide, where I prepared it accordingly.
Picture:

As mentioned before, the plant species of the pollen is Eschscholzia californica.
