Hello Foldscope community!
Found this wheat-like plant outside lab with the most interesting bristly, rough texture – wanted to image to see what kind of natural material contributed to the roughness, but instead ended up seeing purple coloration instead! Completely missed this by the naked eye, am wondering what purpose this color serves… insect attraction for pollination? Anyone know this species?
Also decided to image the large mosquito that died in my lamp. The wing has this most gorgeous structure, but lo and behold – bristles on its wing! I was pretty excited to see that (wouldn’t it be less aerodynamic? My guess would be for sensing perhaps?), but I am probably just new to this microscopic community.
Until next time!
