The flower, like other flower samples, has an interesting distribution of dye/pigment, with parts of it appearing lighter than others. Two features of this sample that I have not noticed in others is the reddish stripe across the sample (this is possibly dust/dirt, as many of the lavender flowers had dirt on them) and the vertical (more thin) stripes (also possibly dirt). As expected, the photo reveals the purple/lavender color of the sample.

The sample (right image below) was collected at 3:26 pm on 5/27/2019 at the California Institute of Technology, from a plot of land (left image below) between Ruddock House and Chandler Cafe (between 1300 and 1320 San Pasqual St, Pasadena, CA 91106). The flowers were all dead so I simply removed one from the pile and tore off a small part of the petal.
