Above is an image of a yellow dandelion in Avery Courtyard in Caltech in California. This foldscope image depicts the pollen obtained from the yellow dandelion at 2pm on Tuesday, May 28. The pollen was obtained by removing stamen from the flower with tweezers and placing a small portion of the stamen onto a foldscope slide.
In the actual foldscope image, three oblong grains of pollen are visible in the bottom right hand portion of the image. The clear filament surrounding the pollen is the remnant tissue from the flower’s stamen.
