On Tuesday, May 28 at around 3pm, leaves were taken from Avery House’s inner courtyard at Caltech. The leaves were carefully removed from the shrubs and an individual leaf was placed on the foldscope slide. A bright light was required to obtain the image below, as the leaves were thicker than typical foldscope samples.
In the foldscope image, small, circular objects represent the individual stomata within the leaf.
